Date:     Saturday, June 12, 2010
Time:     11:00am - 1:00pm
Location: Lamar and 6th street (across the Whole Foods Market), Austin, TX

Since Iran's disputed election nearly one year ago, more than five hundred prisoners of conscience remain imprisoned. They are often denied access to legal representation or their families, and some have been charged with moharebeh, "waging war against God," which can carry the death penalty. Show trials for prisoners are broadcast on state television, with the defendants often gaunt from mistreatment.

In response, as well as to mark one year of blatant human rights violations, various regional groups are organizing global demonstrations on June 12. Events will be held in 75 cities worldwide, including Melbourne, New Delhi, Beirut, Los Angeles. Here in Austin, to commemorate the anniversary of the election and support human right in Iran and support the prisoners of conscience in Iran, there will be a protest on June 12 at Lamar and 6th street (across the Whole Foods Market) between 11pm and 1pm. Please help us spread the word.
