Facebook page for this event: Green balloon demonstration on Facebook
Description
In light of the Iranian people persistence defiance against the election fraud committed on June 12th 2009 we are holding a demonstration to show our solidarity with the Iranian people.
Here is the agenda for our demonstration:
- Flying green balloons in solidarity with Iranians. (Note that for environmental concerns, the balloons will not be released)
- Using signs and slogans to raise awareness about the current situation in Iran.
- Signing petitions against the bloodshed in Iran.
Please notice that regardless of the animosity we believe, belligerence towards the regime can put the safety of some Iranians here in Austin in danger upon returning to Iran. Please keep the message concentrated on the following five criteria:
1- Solidarity with the people of Iran in their quest for justice
2- Stop the bloodshed
3- Hold a new election
4- Free all political prisoners
5- Prosecute those responsible for the violence committed since the election
Please respect the following two requests:
1- If possible, please bring helium filled green balloons (not mandatory)
2- Please refrain from bringing any flags
