United for Iran Global Action Day in Austin, TX
We ask all freedom-loving citizens of Texas to join us on July 25, 2009 for a rally in support of the Iranian people and in condemnation of the human rights abuses being committed by the Iranian government.
Sponsors for this event are: Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Peace Laureate, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty Int'l USA, Nobel Woman's Initiative, Iranian League for Defense of Human Rights (LDDHI), International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, Omid Advocates for Human Rights and many more...
What: Rally, part of United for Iran Global Action Day ( united4iran.com) -- Ahmadinejad is not the President of Iran. Uniting Texans in Austin for the cause of the Iranian people.
When: Saturday, July 25th, 8:00 pm - 10:00pm
Where: Austin, Texas: Start at City Hall, March on 1st street bridge towards Auditorium Shores where there will be music and speeches." Here is the google map of the City Hall. The address is 301 W. Second St., Austin, TX 78701.
Please refrain from bringing any flags or using inflammatory slogans.
Parking information:
Parking near City Hall (start of the rally):City Hall itself has parking garage in basement; it will fill the fastest.
One block east of City Hall there is a brand new public parking garage and it has sign. To enter you can go in off Ceaser Chavez or Second St. I think it is $7. There are multiple parking garages within three blocks of City Hall, look for signs. Average is $5.
Texas Center parking garage at the intersection of South First St and Barton Springs Rd, directly behind Threadgills' Armadillo World Headquarters.
Parking garage at Long Center . (Barton Springs Rd just across from Auditorium Shores , entrance is off Barton Springs Rd at First St intersection across from the visual clue of Sandys Ice Cream/Whataburger)
Bus Parking:Can be directed to the surface parking lot at One Texas Center - cone off in advance 90 ft of curb by 430PM or we won't be able to get curb space (need about 6 cones minimum) - need to stay out of the Austin Police Depts. way as they set up the drunk tank mobile processing center in the same surface lot every weekend. They tend to take the front corner, there is room on the side directly behind the Tgills location.
This event is jointly organized by SabzHouston, Austin for Iran, and San Antonio Iranians.
